Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) allow time for the LG to consider the issue.

A DAY after the Delhi High Court reiterated that all decisions of the Delhi cabinet would have to be approved by the Lieutenant Governor, a pending PIL on the issue of appointment of the chairperson of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) was adjourned to allow time for the LG to consider the issue.

The bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath adjourned the hearing in two PILs challenging the appointment, after it was informed by Delhi government counsel and senior advocate Dayan Krishnan that the files relating to the appointment had been sent to the LG for ‘post-facto’ approval.

Senior advocate Vikas Singh, appearing for DERC, requested the bench to pass orders to the LG to “expeditiously decide the appointment” within two weeks. The court, however, declined to pass any orders and adjourned the hearing to September 28.
