Reviewing law and order, and crime in the national capital, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday directed station house officers (SHOs) of police stations to “intensify their engagement with peace committees” and regularly engage with people in their areas. Jung instructed that police must isolate elements trying to disrupt peace and communal harmony and deal with them strictly.
The LG also cautioned the police to be careful of “any targeted crime against people from North-East states, particularly girls/women”. He said individual responsibility of officers, including SHOs of the area, shall be fixed if there are crimes against people from North-East states living in Delhi. Jung also flagged the issue of women’s safety and the rise in the number of motor vehicle thefts.
