Even as the office of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung acknowledged it had received a letter by East Delhi BJP MP Maheish Girri — in connection with the murder of NDMC official MM Khan — the MP Thursday demanded the LG office release the letter. On Sunday, Girri had started a hunger strike outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house after the latter alleged police were shielding him.

In a statement Thursday, the LG office confirmed it had received a letter from Girri. “A letter from M/s Prominent Hotels Limited was submitted by Maheish Girri, MP, East Delhi, to Hon’ble Lt. Governor on 10.05.2016, stating that in any dispute between the Licensee and the Licensor, arbitration would rest before Lt. Governor of Delhi… This letter was forwarded to Chairperson, NDMC… dated 11.05.2016 for necessary action as per law,” read the statement.

Khan was made the estate officer of The Connaught hotel and was to issue a final order on the eviction proceedings. “The owners had been seeking time and delaying the hearing…,” said an NDMC source.
However, Girri claimed he had not sent any such letter. “I reiterate that I never wrote any such letter about Mr Khan to the LG. If the LG’s statement makes a reference to any letter written by me, then it is for the LG office to make things clear… They (AAP) should speak to the office. If I have written such a letter, the LG office should make it public,” he said.
