Google, ahead of the launch of its Pixel smartphones on October 4, has started an aggressive advertising campaign. The search giant has put up hoardings, billboards and installations in major cities across the world which include Australia, New York, Germany and more. The advertisements have familiar rectangular outline of a smartphone with curved edges and hashtag #madebyGoogle written below.

Plus, Google’s website for its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone with the URL – madeby.google.com – has gone live. With its #madebyGoogle campaign, the company is ready to take on the Apple iPhone 7 series launched on September 7. We already know that Google has dropped Nexus branding for its new smartphones. Now, Google has made it clear that at least the hardware will be made by the company. Google is showing off the camera prowess of its Pixel smartphones on its new site, where different pictures (supposedly clicked with Pixel devices) are being flashed inside rectangular phone-shaped box.

Pixel and Pixel XL will the first Google-made smartphones and the company is leaving no stone unturned for the campaign. Google had earlier said its new smartphones will compete with high-end flagships like Samsung Galaxy S7 series, LG G5 and of course Apple iPhone 7. While details of Google’s new smartphones are unknown, we can expect something on the same lines. Pixel XL is said to be the flagship of the two Google smartphones and will come with a bigger 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display. Google Pixel, on the other hand, will feature a 5-inch display. The smartphones will run the latest Android 7.1 Nougat OS. Reports suggest Google is changing the search bar for its Pixel smartphones into a Google button just like the one on company’s Gboard iOS keyboard.

However, recent reports claim Pixel devices will bear a lower IP53 water and dust resistance rating. This is going to be bit of a letdown for users, especially because iPhone 7 and Samsung S7 series come with  a higher IP67 rating. We will have to wait and watch if this is true.

In a separate set of leaks, a Nest commercial in Netherlands might have given away the first look of Google’s Pixel smartphone. The smartphone is seen to have a glass and aluminium design, in white colour variant.  The rear bottom section of Pixel is aluminium and the rest of it has white glass panel. But Google has officially not given any clues in terms of design. Google’s teaser simply shows a search box taking shape of s smartphone at the end of the YouTube video

Google’s Pixel is said to be powered by Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 chipset. It will come with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. A GFXBenchmark report hints at an 11MP rear camera and 7MP front camera in Pixel smartphone. The primary camera will support 4K video recording. If rumours are anything to be believed, Google is also planning to announce a 4K Chromecast, and the Google Home speaker at the October 4 event. Google Home Speaker was first showcased at the company’s annual I/O conference.
