BJP leader Vijender Gupta has written to LG Najeeb Jung and alleged the AAP sent the report in a “deceitful manner”, after having “slept over” it for almost a year, only due to pressure from the opposition. Three days after the AAP government announced it had sent the report of a fact-finding committee on water tankers distribution management systems scam to the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre, sources said the report has been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) for investigation.
Gupta also alleged the Arvind Kejriwal government had suppressed the report and failed to take any action. He urged Jung to “include the Kejriwal government” in the investigation and “register an FIR” against it.
He alleged instead of cancelling tenders issued by the previous government, the AAP government chose to continue with the wrongdoers, “thereby perpetuating the crime”.
He urged the LG to ensure the investigation is done in the most comprehensive manner so that all offenders “hand in glove in the previous and the present governments are brought to book and punished”. Gupta said the Kejriwal government had committed a “grave offence” by failing to discontinue the tenders given to “tainted” companies.
Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra Monday told the assembly he had forwarded the report on the alleged Delhi Jal Board (DJB) ‘water tanker scam’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the LG on June 12, asking them to initiate a CBI probe and file an FIR against former chief minister Sheila Dikshit and others. Mishra had said the report included details of persons involved in the alleged scam to the tune of Rs 400 crore.

The fact-finding report had indicated the Congress government had “consistently bypassed laws and rules” to cause loss to the DJB while awarding tenders at “unjustified” and “much higher rates”.
In a series of tweets and media updates, Mishra said Thursday his report against corruption by the Sheila Dikshit government had been forwarded to the ACB. He tweeted the AAP government had filed three FIRs against Dikshit for “various corruption cases” and one “in-depth inquiry report”. He claimed the former CM’s “Agents in the BJP” were “the only barrier between” her and Tihar.
He also alleged the Congress “was confident” that despite all the evidence submitted for FIR by CBI and ACB, the BJP will not take any action against Dikshit. The Congress had not commented on this when reports last came in.
