Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus Lunched In China for 1,999 yuan and 2,299 yuan

Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus  has finally launched in China.

Xiaomi Mi 5s starting at 1,999 yuan (Rs 19,00 approx). Xiaomi has launched another variant of the smartphone called Mi 5s Plus which comes in two storage options starting at 2,299 yuan (Rs 22,000 approx). The 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant comes at 2,299 yuan while 6GB RAM+128GB storage is priced at 2,599 yuan (Rs 25,000 approx). Both smartphones  run the new Snapdragon 821 processor.

Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus features a 5.7-inch display and dual camera setup at the back. It has a 13MP+13MP Sony camera lens with f/2.2 aperture. There’s monochrome mode as well. The dual camera setup in Mi 5s Plus is flat, and does not jut out. The Mi 5s Plus weighs 168 grams. Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus will go on sale in China starting September 29. According to reports, more than 1.2 million people have already registered for these phones.

Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus have a metal unibody design. The Mi 5s looks similar to its predecessor – Mi 5 – in terms of design, except that it is slightly bigger. However, the display in Mi 5s is smaller as compared to that in Mi 5s Plus. They supports 4G+ 3x CA, NFC, UFS 2.0, and more. The rumoured ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in Mi 5s is there as well. Xiaomi claims it can identify a user’s fingerprint in split-second. All one needs to do is apply pressure on the glass. Xiaomi  has shared quite a few sample shots taken from the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus as part of the event. The company also put out pictures comparing same shots taken using Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, iPhone 6s Plus and Mi 5s.

The Chinese smartphone maker has announced several new products alongside Mi 5s. These include Mi TV 3s, which comes in two sizes: 55-inches and 65-inches. There’s a Mi TV 3s Home theatre edition as well. Xiaomi’s TV sets feature 4K LG IPS display panel and support HDR. The 4K display on Mi TV has been made by Samsung.

The device measures 9.9 mm at its thinnest point. The Mi TV 3s is powered by quad-core processor and comes with Artificial Intelligence. The 55-inch variant has been priced at 3,499 yuan (Rs 34,000 approx), the 65-inch Mi TV 3s costs 4,999 yuan (Rs 49,000 approx) and the the Home theatre edition is available at 5,999 yuan (Rs 59,000 approx). It doesn’t look like the Mi Tv 3s will come to India anytime soon. But we’ll have to wait and see if the new Mi 5s series is made available here.
